RAW Capital Partners appoints head of people

RAW Capital Partners has appointed organisational psychologist Kate Gibson as its new head of people.

Gibson (pictured) joins RAW from Channel Islands management consultancy CBO, where she specialised in organisational change, designing target operating models and creating development programs for teams across the public and private sectors.

She previously spent eight years in London at global investment manager Orbis, where she designed and led change initiatives across all investment and operational functions in 10 jurisdictions. This work included developing new people policies and practices to support growth, and numerous technology, cultural and internal communications projects.

In 2016, Gibson left Orbis to become a consultant at Potential Plus UK, setting up the London centre and undertaking psychological assessments of children with high learning potential. She then served as a visiting scholar within the City University of London’s Department of Psychology, co-authoring a research paper on gender differences in children. She relocated to Guernsey in 2018, where she worked as an assistant clinical psychologist for the States of Guernsey before joining CBO.

Drawing on this diverse experience, Gibson will now lead RAW Capital Partners’ initiatives for talent acquisition, employee development and organisational culture. The company doubled in size in 2023, now employing over 40 members of staff in Guernsey, Southampton, and London.

The Guernsey-based investment management firm, through the RAW Mortgage Fund, provides specialist mortgages to foreign nationals and UK expats looking to invest in UK buy-to-let property, as well as mortgages for Channel Islanders. The Fund has a nine-year track record of providing investors up to 8.57%* floating annualised returns.

Gibson said: “I’m delighted to be joining RAW Capital Partners at such an exciting time. I believe that organisations outperform through the collective efforts of intentional decision-making and setting their people up for success; this new head of people role provides the perfect opportunity to shape the environment to achieve that.

“I’m looking forward to helping the business mature to better meet the needs of our team, our clients and our investors. RAW has experienced significant growth in the last 12 months, and I’m excited to play a role in helping the company continue to scale intelligently, with a people-centric and supportive culture.”

Ben Nichols, interim managing director of RAW Capital Partners, added: “I’m really pleased to welcome Kate to the company. Her unique experience across a variety of sectors, in combination with her deep understanding of organisational change and people management, makes her the perfect fit to become our head of people. I look forward to seeing how the business and its culture evolves under her leadership.”
