New chief executive at the Co-operative Bank

Coventry Building Society has announced that Andrea Melville will join the group as chief executive of the Co-operative Bank and group chief commercial officer, subject to regulatory approval.

Melville (pictured) is currently head of everyday banking, business banking and CEO of Cater Allen at Santander UK.

She will join Coventry Building Society Group in June 2025, leading the Co-operative Bank’s executive team and joining the Society’s group executive.

She will have responsibility for the group’s trading performance and supporting the group’s integration plans.

Steve Hughes, group chief executive, Coventry Building Society Group, said: “Andrea brings great experience and a track record of delivering strong customer and commercial propositions across current accounts, business banking, investments, savings and lending.

“Her skills and experience of complex projects and digital innovation will be hugely valuable in our transformation plans and her passion to do the right thing for customers aligns perfectly with our ambitions to build something brilliant across the group.”
