L&G streamlines protection documents to aid advisers

Published on

Legal & General’s Retail Protection arm has overhauled its life and critical illness policy documentation in a move designed to make cover easier for clients to understand and simpler for advisers to explain.

Following adviser and customer feedback, clients will now receive a redesigned policy schedule and updated terms and conditions (T&Cs) within their welcome packs.

The changes are intended to provide a clearer overview of key policy details, supporting more effective client conversations and improved understanding at outset.

The new policy schedule offers a concise summary of cover in one place, setting out who is insured, the level of cover, premiums, key dates, and any relevant benefits or exclusions.

POLICY BENEFITS

Meanwhile, the updated T&Cs include a new introductory page outlining policy benefits, a contents page for easier navigation, clearer explanations of cover options and product combinations, and enhanced signposting throughout.

The revisions apply across L&G’s life and critical illness range, including relevant life plans, business protection, family and personal income plans, and rental protection plans. There are no changes to product definitions or core features.

The documentation refresh follows underwriting enhancements introduced in January 2026, aimed at simplifying the application process and improving customer protection outcomes.
