Cornerstone backs Sheffield FC following expansion into city

Published on

Cornerstone Finance Group has agreed a sponsorship deal with Sheffield FC for the 2026-27 season as the financial services group strengthens its presence in the city.

The agreement will see Cornerstone take pitch-side advertising at the MEPS International Home of Football Stadium, home of Sheffield FC, which was established in 1857 and is recognised as the world’s oldest football club.

The sponsorship follows Cornerstone’s decision to open an office in Sheffield, extending its operations beyond its Cardiff headquarters.

The stadium, which has a capacity of just over 2,000, is also used by rugby league side Sheffield Eagles.

Cornerstone operates across mortgages, commercial finance, commercial insurance, wealth management and protection. The group was included in the Fast Growth Index UK’s list of the 250 fastest-growing companies in 2025.

Gareth Hope, training and capability manager at Cornerstone, who is based in Sheffield, said: “We’re proud of our growing UK-wide presence and as we continue to expand it’s important that we continue to support the communities that are home to our people and our partners.

“Sheffield plays an important role within Cornerstone, and there is something truly special about Sheffield FC as the world’s first football club.

“The club has a passionate supporter base, ambitious plans for the future and a growing profile across both the men’s and women’s game. It represents a proud part of the city’s sporting heritage.”

Haydn Thomas, chief executive of Cornerstone Finance Group, said: “Partnerships like this help us maintain strong local connections and support organisations that make a real difference within their communities.

“We’re delighted to be supporting Sheffield FC and look forward to following their progress throughout the season.”
