Health and life insurer The Exeter has appointed Gary Warman as Chief Financial Officer following the departure of Michael Payne to Lloyds Banking Group.
Warman (main picture), who currently serves as Chief Risk Officer at The Exeter, will also join the insurer’s Board of Directors and executive leadership Team as part of the move.
The appointment comes as the mutual continues to focus on long-term financial resilience, growth and support for advisers and members across the protection market.
Warman joined The Exeter in 2024 and has since played a key role in developing the insurer’s risk framework and broader strategic direction.
Prior to joining the business, he held senior positions at JP Morgan Asset Management, Deloitte, Royal London and Aon.
In his new role, Warman will oversee finance, actuarial operations and The Exeter’s insurance solutions team.
CLEAR UNDERSTANDING

Isobel Langton, CEO at The Exeter, said: “We are pleased to welcome Gary as Chief Financial Officer.
“He combines financial and risk experience with a clear understanding of what matters to our members and advisers, and he will continue to play a key role in the future success of The Exeter.
“I’d also like to thank Michael for his contribution to The Exeter over his time with us. He’s played an important role in the business, and we wish him all the best in his new position.”
LONG-TERM SECURITY
Warman added: “I’m delighted to take on this exciting new role and look forward to continuing to contribute to the organisation’s success as we look to the future.
“The Exeter has a clear purpose around supporting members when they need us most, and that’s something I’ve seen first-hand.
“I’m looking forward to building on that and continuing to work closely with colleagues across the business to ensure we continue delivering strong financial outcomes and long-term security for our members.”
