SortRefer expands faster conveyancing service after pilot cuts completion times

Published on

SortRefer has rolled out its Enhanced conveyancing service to all registered brokers after a pilot recorded average completion times of 87 days.

The service, which uses dedicated case-handling teams with reduced caseloads, is now available for sale and purchase cases in England and Wales.

SortRefer said data from the pilot showed completion times were 33% shorter than under its standard service, where cases took an average of 129 days.

The pilot has been running since December 2025 in partnership with Gorvins, Fidler & Pepper and Sort Legal, with the results based on cases handled between December 2025 and September 2026.

The wider launch, which took effect on 28 September, also involves Right Choice Conveyancing and Chadwick Lawrence.

Under the Enhanced model, conveyancing teams handle fewer cases, with the aim of allowing more attention to individual transactions and improving communication. Clients are also given a named point of contact throughout the process.

Kevin Tunnicliffe (pictured), chief executive of Sort Group, said: “Since the launch beginning of SortRefer, the goal has always been to make homebuying more of a seamless process, and this is the next step in achieving better turnaround times for clients and a reduced workload for our conveyancers.

“I’m passionate about the ‘less is more’ ethos and this pilot has proved it can work.

“This has never just been a company ambition for me but an industry-wide one, so the inclusion of Gorvins, Fidler & Pepper, Sort Legal, Right Choice Conveyancing and Chadwick Lawrence in the launch, is great to see.”

Graham Le-Bas, head of broker position at SortRefer, added: “From a sales perspective, this gives us something concrete to point to. Being able to tell brokers that their client’s cases could potentially move faster, with real results behind it, makes a real difference; it’s a stronger conversation to have.”
