The Exeter moves Woodley into healthcare development role

The Exeter has appointed Karen Woodley as head of healthcare development, giving her responsibility for helping to shape the insurer’s future healthcare proposition.

Woodley (pictured) moves into the newly created role after more than a decade with The Exeter, having joined the insurer in 2015 as head of healthcare distribution.

She has more than 20 years’ experience in the healthcare insurance market and also sits on the Association of British Insurers’ Health Committee. Woodley is treasurer of the Association of Medical Insurers and Intermediaries.

Her new remit will include identifying emerging trends, innovation and market developments, as well as assessing opportunities for the insurer’s healthcare business.

As part of the change, the healthcare distribution team previously headed by Woodley will be incorporated into The Exeter‘s wider distribution operation under Jamie Page, head of distribution.

Steve Bryan, director of distribution and marketing at The Exeter, said: “Karen has been instrumental in the growth of our healthcare proposition, and this next chapter is a well-deserved recognition of the valuable contribution she continues to make at The Exeter.

“She combines deep sector expertise with a strong understanding of our business and the people we serve. I’m delighted to see her take on this broader remit and look forward to seeing the impact she will undoubtedly have in the role.”

Woodley said: “I’m honoured to take on this new position at such an important stage in the development of our healthcare offering.

“I’ve seen the market evolve significantly over the years, and I’m incredibly proud of the progress we’ve made in helping advisers and customers navigate those changes.

“There’s still a great deal of opportunity ahead, and I’m excited to explore what’s possible. In particular, I’m looking forward to finding new ways to help more people understand the role private healthcare can play in giving them greater choice, confidence and reassurance when they need it the most.”
