Paragon Bank has appointed Simon Cockerill as commercial director of mortgages as it looks to further develop its buy-to-let proposition.
Cockerill (main picture) will report to managing director of mortgages Louisa Sedgwick and lead the development of the lender’s buy-to-let mortgage sales, distribution and product functions.
He will work with teams across the business to support growth in existing and developing areas of the market and broaden the range of solutions available to brokers and their landlord clients.
Cockerill joins Paragon with 28 years’ experience in mortgage sales and distribution, most recently spending almost nine years as head of sales at OSB Group. He has also held senior roles across lenders, intermediaries and building societies.
‘LISTENING TO BROKERS’
Cockerill said: “I’ve admired the strength of the Paragon brand for many years and have always been impressed by its commitment to supporting brokers and landlords. I’ve known Louisa for the past eight years and I’m delighted to be joining the business and working under her leadership.
“Having worked across a range of roles within the mortgage industry, I’ve seen first-hand the importance of listening to brokers and understanding the challenges their landlord clients face.
“Paragon has built strong foundations through its specialist expertise and close relationships with intermediaries and I’m looking forward to helping the business continue to evolve its proposition, broaden the range of solutions available and support brokers in placing an even wider range of business with confidence.”

Sedgwick added: “Simon is an incredibly well-respected figure in the mortgage industry and brings extensive experience across sales, distribution and intermediary engagement.
“His insight, leadership and understanding of broker needs will be invaluable as we support landlords operating in a changing market and pursue new opportunities for the business.
“I’m delighted to welcome him to the team.”
