Openwork has appointed Dave Ewens to the position of distribution director.

Ewens joins Openwork from Metlife where he spent eight years, latterly as national sales director. Prior to joining Metlife in 2007, he spent 24 years at Norwich Union where he was top sales consultant for 10 years.

In his new role Ewens will head up Openwork’s business development and telephone sales teams, and assume day-to-day responsibility for running recruitment and the network’s referral company Openwork Market Solutions.

He will also act as Openwork’s principle liaison with its IFA business 2plan and assume control of the Openwork Protection Service, which is a major focus for 2015.

Mark Duckworth, managing director of distribution and marketing at Openwork, said: “Following an extremely successful 2014 we are thrilled to announce that Dave will be joining us to help build on the significant progress we have made in the last couple of years.

“Distribution directors with Dave’s ability and experience are rare and we are fortunate to have him on board following two years of profitability and our recent deal with MetLife UK which took the total number of advisers across the group to 3,000.”
