Legal & General Surveying Services rebrands as Westmarq

Published on

Legal & General Surveying Services has rebranded as Westmarq following its change of ownership in December 2025.

The national surveying business said the new identity marked the next stage of its development as it seeks to expand its work with mortgage lenders and increase its use of technology, data and property intelligence.

Westmarq manages about 376,000 valuations a year and employs more than 100 RICS-qualified surveyors, alongside a panel of third-party surveying firms.

The business has retained its existing surveying expertise and lender relationships following the ownership change, while continuing to develop the technology and data capabilities used to support valuation decisions.

Its services include valuations, surveying and digital reporting, as well as its Property Decision Engine and data, audit and risk management capabilities. These are intended to help lenders determine the appropriate valuation route for individual cases and improve oversight of property risk.

The company was among the first valuation firms to develop desktop valuations in 2017 and has since continued to invest in systems designed to determine whether cases are suitable for automated, desktop or physical valuation.

TECHNOLOGY AND SURVEYING EXPERTISE

Richard Sexton, managing director of Westmarq, said: “Westmarq represents where we are going, rather than simply where we have been.

“We have a strong foundation of experienced surveyors, established lender relationships and deep technical expertise. We are doing is building on that foundation, combining it with better data, technology and a clear focus on the decisions our clients need to make

“Property lending is changing. The volume and quality of data available to lenders is increasing, technology is becoming more sophisticated and the properties being assessed are not always straightforward. The answer is not to choose between technology and expertise. It is to use both intelligently.

“That is what Westmarq stands for. We want to help lenders make better decisions, faster, while retaining the professional judgement and quality that complex lending requires.

The Westmarq name is intended to reflect the company’s positioning around property intelligence and lending decisions, with the business retaining the underlying surveying operation developed over more than 50 years.

The rebrand is being introduced across the company’s internal communications and external channels, with the Legal & General Surveying Services brand due to be fully retired by late October.
