Landmark Information Group has launched a search bundle that provides property information when a home is listed, as the industry prepares for reforms to the buying and selling process.
Sales Pack Ready combines a Personal Local Search, a Drainage and Water Search and Homecheck Residential. Property condition reports with national coverage are also available through Landmark.
The company said the bundle would give estate agents, conveyancers, mortgage brokers and lenders earlier access to the search and condition information identified in the government’s reform proposals.
Landmark, which has worked in the survey and valuation market for more than 40 years, said Sales Pack Ready was the first in a series of products intended to help property professionals adopt upfront property information.
Its data shows that the average period between instruction and completion has risen to 123 days, an increase of 18% since 2019 and 64% since 2007. Landmark attributed some delays to important property information arriving late, prompting additional enquiries and uncertainty.
The launch follows the Project 28 Charter, through which property organisations have supported a blueprint for faster and more transparent transactions. One of the charter’s central commitments is to make relevant property information available earlier.
Landmark said the bundle also supported its LandmarkConnect initiative, which is intended to improve the secure exchange of trusted data during the home-moving process.
Providing information at the point of listing could allow potential problems to be identified sooner, the company said. It could also help conveyancers to limit additional enquiries and enable mortgage brokers and lenders to make earlier lending and underwriting decisions.
Simon Brown, chief executive of Landmark Information Group, said: “The move towards greater upfront property information, through Project 28 and alongside Government reforms, will require every part of the market to adapt how transactions are prepared and how information is shared.
“Sales Pack Ready is the first in a series of solutions we are developing specifically around the Home Buying and Selling reform roadmap.
“It represents an important step in helping the industry move towards transactions that are better informed, more connected and more certain from the outset.
“Landmark is committed to giving customers the trusted information, connected technology and practical tools they need to navigate a changing property market, not only preparing them for reform but also helping them deliver faster, more certain transactions today.”
