Landbay webinar to examine outlook for rates and UK economy

Landbay is to host an economic webinar examining the outlook for interest rates, inflation and UK growth following the latest Bank of England decision.

The buy-to-let lender’s latest Spotlight session will take place online at 11am on 2 October and will be hosted by Landbay chief executive John Goodall.

He will be joined by Kallum Pickering, chief economist and deputy head of research at investment bank Peel Hunt, for the one-hour event, which is open to mortgage market professionals.

RATE OUTLOOK

The webinar follows the Monetary Policy Committee’s decision this month to leave Bank Rate unchanged at 3.75%.

Pickering will discuss the potential direction of interest rates from here, alongside the outlook for UK economic growth and the implications of sustained increases in oil prices for inflation.

The session will also look ahead to the Budget at the end of October and consider the economic developments that mortgage advisers may need to watch.

Pickering leads Peel Hunt’s analysis and forecasting of the UK, US and eurozone economies. He has more than a decade of experience in macroeconomic research and is a columnist for The Daily Telegraph as well as a contributor to Bloomberg, CNBC and the BBC.

Goodall said: “September’s Bank Base Rate decision may have resulted in another hold, but the economic outlook certainly does not feel settled, with inflation pressures continuing and plenty of questions about where rates might go next.

“Add in the Budget at the end of October and there is a great deal for advisers and their clients to consider over the coming weeks and months.

“Kallum has a wealth of experience analysing the UK economy and the factors influencing it, so our latest Spotlight webinar session should provide advisers, and other stakeholders, with a valuable opportunity to hear his latest thinking and consider what it could mean for the mortgage market, their own businesses and client considerations.”
