Hinckley & Rugby BS sponsors financial educational lesson

Students at Hinckley’s Dorothy Goodman School received lessons in money management during a day of financial education sponsored by Hinckley & Rugby Building Society.

The not-for profit organisation, WizeUp, deliver tailored education on financial matters to schools and colleges around the country.

Ed Flack, founder of WizeUp, delivered one such session to teenagers from Hinckley-based special educational needs school, Dorothy Goodman, and arranged a trip to one of Hinckley & Rugby Building Society’s branches, where the pupils were given the opportunity to practice opening a savings account and engage with branch staff.

Flack said: “It was a delight to be returning to Dorothy Goodman this year after our enforced two-year absence. As always, we found a group of engaged students who embraced the whole day. Once again, the highlight of the day was a trip to meet the brilliant staff at Castle Street. Huge thanks to everyone involved in making this day a complete success.”

Guy Bennett, Hinckley & Rugby Building Society’s digital marketing Manager, added: “It was rewarding to see how much the students got out of visiting the Castle Street branch. Not only will they have gained some valuable knowledge in money management from the day, but they were also able to safely practice how they would interact with branch staff if they were to open their own account.”
