Foundation and Catalyst colleagues have climbed Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) as part of a fundraising drive for youth homelessness charity Centrepoint.
A group of 35 employees completed the 1,085-metre climb despite rain, fog and strong winds, with the challenge taking Foundation close to its £10,000 fundraising target for the event.
The specialist lender is in the second year of its partnership with Centrepoint, which provides accommodation and support services for young people experiencing homelessness.
The Snowdon event, called Peak for Purpose, forms part of Foundation’s wider community programme. During the past year, the business has raised more than £40,000 for Centrepoint, supported more than 24 charities and contributed 260 volunteering days.
SECOND YEAR OF CENTREPOINT PARTNERSHIP
Foundation said it had invested £106,447 in community initiatives over the same period, with fundraising, volunteering and other colleague-led activity forming part of its work around housing insecurity.
Pete Ball, chief executive of Foundation, says: “At Foundation, our purpose is to enable home and property ambitions for everyone, which is why our partnership with Centrepoint is such a natural fit. We’re proud to be supporting their vital work for a second year and helping young people access the safety, stability and opportunities they deserve.
“Seeing colleagues come together to take on the Snowdon Challenge has been a fantastic example of that commitment in action while continuing to make mortgages happen.”
Sabrina Hunte, ESG programme lead at Foundation, says: “Peak for Purpose has been a fantastic example of what can be achieved when colleagues come together behind a shared cause. The determination, support and teamwork shown throughout the climb were incredible to see, and we’re delighted to have already raised almost all of our £10,000 target.
“Every pound raised will help Centrepoint continue its vital work supporting young people facing homelessness. Despite challenging conditions, including rain, fog and strong winds, all 35 participants completed the climb, demonstrating the teamwork and resilience that underpinned the fundraising effort.”
Mopani Mkandawire, internal communications manager at Foundation, says: “The biggest highlight of the challenge was the teamwork. Everyone looked out for one another throughout the day, whether that was offering encouragement on the tougher sections or simply checking in on colleagues along the way.
“It was a challenging but hugely rewarding experience and a great opportunity to come together in support of Centrepoint and the young people they help every day.”
