FORTO Finance launches with focus on expat mortgage market

FORTO Finance has launched in the UK mortgage and protection market following a pilot that began in April.

The new brokerage will advise on residential mortgages, remortgages, buy-to-let lending, specialist property finance and protection.

Founded by mortgage and protection adviser Anthony Curtis, with Esmé Rook as operations manager, the business said it would focus on providing clear and proactive advice to borrowers dealing with changing affordability requirements and lender criteria.

FORTO Finance will work with first-time buyers, home movers, self-employed applicants, high net worth clients, landlords and property investors, while placing particular emphasis on mortgages for expatriate borrowers.

Anthony Curtis, director of FORTO Finance, said: “We’ve been running a pilot since April and we now know the proposition works. The number of choices available to borrowers has increased significantly in recent years, while affordability requirements and lender criteria are evolving all the time.

“Clients need advice that helps them understand their options and make informed decisions. Our focus is on providing clear recommendations, responding quickly and helping clients make progress towards their financial goals.

“We’ve built FORTO Finance around the belief that good advice should give people confidence to move forward, whether they’re buying a home, refinancing an existing property or funding their next investment. The focus on expat mortgages has come out of that.”

The FORTO name takes inspiration from the Italian word “forte” and the Latin word “fortis”. The brokerage said the name was intended to reflect strength, confidence and forward progress.

It has also adopted a fox as part of its brand identity, representing intelligence, instinct and agility.
