Brilliant Solutions joins Equity Release Council as later life market broadens

Published on

Brilliant Solutions has joined the Equity Release Council as the mortgage club and specialist distributor looks to strengthen its involvement in the later life lending market.

The firm works with mortgage advisers across the UK, providing access to a range of lenders and products, and will bring its experience of the intermediary and specialist mortgage sectors to the Council.

The move comes as the distinction between mainstream mortgages and later life borrowing becomes less clear, requiring advisers to consider a broader range of options when working with older customers.

Brilliant Solutions said its membership would allow it to contribute to knowledge-sharing between the mortgage and later life sectors, while keeping its adviser members informed about developments in the market.

Michael Craig (main picture), managing director at Brilliant Solutions, said: “We’re pleased to be joining the Equity Release Council and look forward to working with the Council and its members.

“Later life lending is an important part of the mortgage market and advisers need to be able to look at the different options available to their customers.

“Being part of the Council gives us the opportunity to share what we see and hear from advisers, while also helping our members keep up to date with the later life market.”

Tom Brett, head of commercial and business development, said: “We’re really pleased to have Brilliant Solutions on board. Their work with advisers across the mortgage market gives them a strong understanding of the conversations taking place with customers and the support brokers need.

“Bringing more of the mortgage market into the later life conversation is important, and we’re looking forward to working with Brilliant Solutions to share knowledge, engage more advisers and help build greater awareness of the options available to customers in later life.”

Jim Boyd, chief executive of the Equity Release Council, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Brilliant Solutions to the Equity Release Council. They work with advisers and lenders across the mortgage market and will bring useful insight and experience to our membership.

“People’s borrowing needs can change considerably as they get older, so it is important that the mortgage and later life lending markets do not operate in isolation.

“Working with organisations such as Brilliant Solutions helps us share knowledge across the market and support advisers in helping customers understand the options available to them.”
