Yorkshire BS returns to television advertising after a decade

Yorkshire Building Society has launched its first television advertising campaign in 10 years, with the work developed in-house and produced in Yorkshire.

The mutual’s “Here for every stage” campaign will run across television, digital, video-on-demand and social media from 3 August.

Created by the building society’s in-house team and produced by Leeds-based Media Mavericks, the advertisement focuses on the personal circumstances behind financial decisions.

It follows one person from childhood to adulthood and parenthood, covering events including school plays, teenage ambitions, buying a first home and preparing for the next generation.

The story is set in a theatre, with the stages of the character’s life presented on a single stage. Filming took place at Yeadon Town Hall, with Yorkshire Building Society employees appearing as audience extras.

Jodie Madden, director of brand and marketing at Yorkshire Building Society, said: “Financial decisions are some of the most important moments in people’s lives, but they’re rarely just about finances. They’re about the people we care about and the futures we’re trying to create for them.

“With ‘Here for every stage’, we wanted to tell a story that truly reflects that reality. It’s about recognising the pressures, the pride and the responsibility people feel as they move through life, and showing that for 160 years we’ve been right there alongside them, not just with products, but with understanding, support and expertise when it matters most.

“That really resonated with me personally during filming. Sitting in the audience at Yeadon Town Hall, knowing my five-year-old daughter will soon be dancing on that same stage, I couldn’t help but think about all the life stages still ahead of her.

“It brought home just how much of parenting is about quietly preparing for those moments – not just emotionally, but financially too.

“This is also our first TV campaign in a decade, and it feels fitting that it’s been a true Yorkshire effort from start to finish. Our creative team have worked hard to show Yorkshire Building Society as a partner that understands our members’ lives, not just their money.”

Harry Adamson, director at Media Mavericks, said: “What makes this campaign stand out is the strength of the message at its core. It’s not about products or features – it’s about real life, and the moments that matter to people.

“The theatre setting allowed us to bring those stages to life in a simple but visually powerful way, while keeping the focus on the emotional journey. It’s been a brilliant collaboration to help tell that story in a way that feels authentic and relatable.”

The nationwide campaign forms part of Yorkshire Building Society’s move towards brand-led advertising.
