The Wealthy Advisers Club has donated a fully funded place at its inaugural Digital Detox Retreat to the Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter.
The £997 place will allow one person working in mortgage, protection or wider financial services to attend the retreat in the Peak District from 18 to 20 September 2026.
The weekend is intended to help attendees disconnect from work and technology. It will be led by wellbeing practitioner Leo Oppenheim and will offer optional activities including breathwork, meditation, yoga, cold-water immersion, sound therapy, nature walks and personal reflection sessions.
The funded place includes two nights’ accommodation, meals prepared by a private chef and access to the activities.
Applicants will not be required to disclose medical information or a diagnosis. They will instead be asked to explain how the weekend could benefit their wellbeing and what they hope to gain from it.
Applications will be assessed by a panel comprising Terry Blackburn and representatives of the Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter. The deadline is midnight on 31 August, and applications can be made here.
Jason Berry, co-founder of the Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter, said: “There’s a really important message behind Terry’s incredibly generous offer.
“Looking after our wellbeing shouldn’t begin when we’ve already reached breaking point. Sometimes the most valuable thing we can do is recognise that we need to pause, create some space and properly switch off before stress becomes unmanageable.
“People across our industry spend enormous amounts of time looking after their businesses, their clients, their colleagues and their families, but don’t always give themselves the same attention.
“This weekend offers someone the opportunity to do exactly that – to disconnect, reflect and invest some genuine time in themselves.
“We’re enormously grateful to Terry for donating the place and, importantly, for recognising that sustainable success and personal wellbeing should go hand in hand.”
Blackburn, founder of The Wealthy Advisers Club, added: “Having spent years building and exiting businesses, mentoring thousands of advisers and working closely with brokers across the UK every week, I’ve seen first-hand just how demanding this industry can be.
“Long hours, constant client expectations, regulatory pressures, targets and the responsibility of helping families make major financial decisions can all take their toll.
“Earlier this year I attended a retreat with Leo Oppenheim and I came away feeling incredibly clear-headed, focused and de-stressed. It made me realise how valuable it can be to properly step away from everything for a period of time.
“I’ve seen too many great advisers become overwhelmed and overworked, and many people quietly struggle with stress without talking about it. While our industry has plenty of conversations about sales, growth and performance, we have far fewer conversations about protecting the people behind those businesses.
“That’s why I approached Jason and MIMHC.
“This is the first retreat we’ve organised through The Wealthy Advisers Club and I hope it encourages more people in our industry to recognise that taking time out isn’t a sign that something has gone wrong.
“Sometimes it’s simply a sensible investment in yourself. I’m delighted that, through MIMHC, we’re able to give someone that opportunity.”
