OneFamily chief executive Simon Markey will be stepping down after seven years.

He will be succeeded by current chief finance officer (CFO) Teddy Nyahasha on 1 January 2020.

Nyahasha (pictured) has been CFO since 2016 and his appointment marks the beginning of the next phase for OneFamily’s strategic journey.

OneFamily has also announced the appointment of two new members to the board of directors. New chief finance officer (CFO), Jim Islam and Nici Audhlam-Gardiner, chief commercial officer (CCO).

Islam joins the OneFamily team on 1 October from Lloyd’s of London where he was head of group finance. Prior to this, he held finance director and managing director roles at Legal & General Group and brings 20+ years of leadership experience, with step change achievements in insurance, investment management, savings, life and the pensions sector.

Audhlam-Gardiner joined OneFamily in 2018 and has worked closely with the board as a member of the executive team.

Christina McComb, chair of the board, said: “The board’s priority has been to select the best leader for the next phase of OneFamily’s future; we believe we have found that in Teddy as our new CEO.

“Teddy’s experience and understanding of our business, coupled with his belief in our strategy and commitment to our core values, meant he was a unanimous choice for the board.

“The board thanks Simon for his vision and leadership over the past seven years, which has provided a strong platform for OneFamily’s future success.

“We also welcome new chief finance officer (CFO), Jim Islam and the appointment of Nici Audhlam-Gardiner our Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) to the board. We are delighted to have attracted such a strong successor to Teddy as our new CFO. With his vast experience, Jim brings the right combination of financial, sector and business expertise to help us deliver our new strategy.

“Nici has worked closely with the board since joining OneFamily as a member of the executive team. Her impressive strategic, commercial and marketing capabilities will serve us well as we lead the next phase of OneFamily’s future.”

Nyahasha said: “I am honoured to have been appointed as the new CEO of OneFamily and am looking forward to working with the board and other colleagues to continue delivering our ambitious strategy. This is a good time to be part of OneFamily and we face the future with confidence. I am also delighted that Jim Islam and Nici Audhlam-Gardiner are joining the board.”

Markey added: “It’s been my pleasure to lead this business over the past seven years. With Teddy as CEO, supported by the board and our strong executive team, I am confident I am leaving the business in the best possible hands.”
