Tandem Bank appoints southern account manager as second charge lending grows

Published on

Tandem Bank has appointed Lloyd Turner as southern account manager as it seeks to strengthen its relationships with mortgage brokers across southern England.

Turner (pictured) has more than 15 years’ experience in financial services, including more than a decade in specialist mortgages. He has held roles at United Trust Bank and Pepper Money, working with specialist brokerages, specialist lenders and high street banks across sales, underwriting and product teams.

In his new role, Turner will work directly with Tandem’s intermediary partners in the south, helping brokers access the bank’s specialist second charge proposition.

The appointment follows growth in the second charge market, which Tandem said expanded by about 25% in 2025. Annual originations exceeded £2 billion for the first time as more borrowers chose second charge loans rather than remortgaging.

Tandem has more than 25,000 active second charge customers and distributes its products through a network of more than 75 specialist intermediaries.

The bank launched Tandem Connect, its proprietary loan management platform, in 2025 to support increased customer demand. It has also continued to make changes to its products, lending criteria and pricing.

Laura Walters, head of sales and distribution at Tandem, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Lloyd to the team at a key stage in our growth. His experience and knowledge of the regional broker market make him ideally placed to strengthen existing relationships and help us reach new partners.

“This is a growing market, and Lloyd’s appointment demonstrates our commitment to enhancing brokers’ experience, providing regular contact and faster support, and ensuring Tandem is seen as a partner that is genuinely easy to do business with.”

Turner added: “Tandem has built a genuinely strong position in the specialist second charge market, with a strong product range and broker relationships.

“My focus is on building on that in the south, connecting with brokers who know me and introducing myself to those who don’t, and helping them make the most of what Tandem has to offer.

“This is a market with real momentum and I’m looking forward to being part of a team that is committed to growing its impact within the industry.”
