Step One Finance adopts OMS origination platform

Published on

Step One Finance has introduced a bespoke loan origination system developed with One Mortgage System (OMS) as part of an expansion of the technology partnership between the two firms.

The specialist lender has adopted OMS Originations across its mortgage application process, following an earlier API integration between the businesses.

OMS and Step One Finance subsequently worked together to tailor the origination platform to the lender’s requirements, with the system intended to reduce administration and improve visibility for intermediaries and customers.

Established in 2010, Step One Finance provides specialist lending products and says its approach is based on responsibility, transparency, fairness and simplicity.

ORIGINATION TECHNOLOGY

OMS launched its Originations platform in April 2024 to support both intermediary and direct mortgage submissions. It includes instant decisioning, a product engine, underwriting processes and second and third-line audit functionality.

The system can be configured to create different lender workflows and supports products including semi-commercial, self-build, joint borrower sole proprietor, buy-to-let, retirement interest-only, right to buy, holiday lets, expat mortgages, limited company buy-to-let and commercial finance.

Neal Jannels (pictured), managing director of One Mortgage System, says: “This integration is another example of how OMS continues to support specialist lenders with flexible, reliable technology that makes a tangible difference to their day-to-day operations.

“Step One Finance has a clear focus on improving the customer journey through smart investment in digital infrastructure, and we’re proud to play a key role in supporting this delivery.”

Agnieszka Jouille, director of operations & strategy at Step One Finance, adds: “Our investment in technology is focused on creating a simpler, more efficient customer journey while strengthening the controls that support responsible lending.

“Our partnership with OMS is an important part of delivering that ambition.”

Neil Molyneux, director of sales at Step One Finance, says: “For our brokers and partners, that means less administration, greater visibility and faster progress, complemented by the personal support and expertise that remain core to how we work at Step One.”
