Osborne scraps tripartite system of regulation

The Chancellor George Osborne has outlined his plans for a new financial services regulatory regime.

In his first Mansion House speech last night, Osborne said that the Bank of England is to be handed sweeping new powers over Britain’s financial system, with the Government abolishing the tripartite regime, and the FSA ceasing to exist in its current form.
