Nomo launches broker academy for Gulf client property finance

Published on

Nomo has launched a broker academy to support intermediaries working with Gulf Cooperation Council clients buying property in the UK.

The digital bank, which provides Sharia’a-compliant UK property finance to international clients, said the Nomo Academy would provide learning materials, product updates and thought leadership for brokers supporting GCC residents with residential property purchases in England, Wales and Scotland.

Nomo estimates the market is worth around £1 billion a year, although it said the opportunity remains unexplored by many mortgage brokers.

The academy has been designed to provide information, learning and guidance to brokers, with the aim of helping applications and completions run more smoothly for clients.

It will operate as a learning hub, giving brokers support to identify and complete cases. It will also include events and webinars on topics including Sharia’a finance and the UK property purchasing journey.

Participating brokers will be able to secure Continuous Professional Development points.

The academy is being run by Nomo’s property finance team, using its experience of supporting brokers on cases involving GCC clients. Nomo said the team would also work with experienced brokers to develop new features, content and modules.

Layla Hamidian, head of property finance sales and servicing at Nomo, said: “Since we launched our property finance proposition in 2023, we’ve worked hard to understand what brokers need to support their GCC clients with UK property purchases. We understand the hurdles and barriers they often come up against and have created the Nomo Academy to help make the process smoother and more accessible.

“Brokers will get the practical support and clear insights they need to feel confident working on these cases. This includes understanding how Sharia’a-compliant property finance works and how to prepare stronger applications.

“They will also benefit from regular, direct access to a broad range of Nomo team members.”

The first webinar, focused on underwriting, took place on 25 March 2026 and was led by Kishan Jesani, head of mortgage underwriting at Nomo, and Hamidian.

The session covered Nomo’s underwriting approach, including how financing decisions are assessed and what brokers can do to strengthen and streamline applications, particularly for clients in the GCC.

Nomo said it would continue to build the academy programme in the coming months, including further content, more broker-led sessions and opportunities for intermediaries to engage with its business development team and wider broker community.

The next webinar, looking at portfolio landlords, is due to be held on 20 May.
