National Friendly has made three appointments across its marketing, actuarial and business development teams as the mutual continues to expand its protection business.

Paul Allen has joined as chief marketing officer, Peter Stanley as deputy chief actuary and Danny Turner as business development manager.

Allen (pictured) brings more than 25 years’ experience in insurance marketing, covering both life and general insurance. He previously worked at Zurich Insurance across a range of marketing disciplines.

At National Friendly, he will take responsibility for marketing, including product proposition and strategies designed to support the society’s business partners.

Allen said: “Marketing is entering one of the most exciting periods of change I’ve seen in my career. AI is going to transform how we understand customers, develop propositions, create content and deliver experiences.

“I’m delighted to be joining National Friendly at an important point in its development. I look forward to combining innovation with the Society’s strong sense of purpose to support its growth and help more people access the protection they need.”

Stanley joined National Friendly in June 2026 and reports to chief actuary Julian Ellacott. His responsibilities include overseeing actuarial valuations, producing the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment and contributing to capital, investment and liquidity management.

He is a qualified actuary with 20 years’ experience in financial services and previously worked at Lloyds Banking Group and KPMG.

Turner joins with previous business development and strategic account experience at providers including Vitality, Canada Life and The Exeter.

His role will focus on developing National Friendly’s relationships with advisers and supporting growth in its protection proposition.

Graham Singleton, chief executive of National Friendly, said: “It’s testament to our ongoing growth and success across the business that we’re making today’s announcement to further strengthen our team.

“By investing in our leadership and specialist expertise, we are increasing our capacity to grow sustainably, support our partners and deliver for our members.

“We’re delighted to welcome Paul, Peter and Danny to the team. Each brings considerable experience and fresh perspectives to the Society.

“And we look forward to working together to help more people access innovative protection solutions and, ultimately, bridge the protection gap.”
