Mortgage Brain has updated its Submissions Brain platform to give brokers greater control over Nationwide decisions in principle (DIPs), including the ability to amend and resubmit existing applications without starting again.
The changes remove several automatic stages from the application process, allowing intermediaries to decide when a case progresses to Nationwide For Intermediaries and when a mortgage product is reserved.
Previously, cases moved automatically to Nationwide’s intermediary platform following a DIP decision. Under the revised process, brokers can determine when to proceed, giving them more flexibility to manage applications and product reservations.
The update also introduces DIP reprocessing for Nationwide cases. Brokers can amend eligible applications and request a fresh lending decision, with visual indicators identifying which DIPs can be reprocessed and guidance on the fields that can be changed.
REDUCING DUPLICATE DATA ENTRY
Mortgage Brain has expanded the information captured during the DIP process to reduce the amount of data brokers must subsequently enter into Nationwide For Intermediaries.
The integration now also supports Nationwide’s Helping Hand scheme within the DIP journey.
More than 3,000 brokers using both CRM Brain and Submissions Brain can benefit from client information being automatically transferred between the two systems. Submissions Brain is also available as a standalone product and can connect to third-party CRM platforms.
Mortgage Brain estimates that its wider Submissions Brain functionality saves brokers an average of 30 minutes per case by reducing repeated data entry and the need to move between systems.
The platform’s existing re-DIP functionality also allows brokers to copy an application and submit it to another lender or resubmit it to the original lender. Copied information remains editable, while the dashboard links related submissions to maintain an audit trail.
FULL MORTGAGE APPLICATION PLANNED
Further development of the Nationwide integration is planned before the end of 2026, with Mortgage Brain working on a digital full mortgage application facility.
The proposed functionality will allow brokers to move from an approved Nationwide DIP directly to a full application without having to re-enter information already collected.
Jim Quinton, senior manager – partnerships at Nationwide, says: “We’re always looking at how we can make the mortgage journey smoother for brokers, and these enhancements to Submissions Brain do exactly that.
“Giving brokers the ability to reprocess a DIP rather than start again, and greater control over when a case moves into Nationwide For Intermediaries or when a product is reserved, means less repetition and fewer delays when small details change.
“It’s a great example of what can be achieved when we work in partnership with Mortgage Brain.”

Neil Wyatt, chief commercial officer at Mortgage Brain, says: “Cases used to move forward automatically the moment a Nationwide decision came back, whether the broker was ready or not.
“Now they can reprocess a DIP instead of starting again, decide when to hand a case over to Nationwide For Intermediaries, and reserve the product at the right moment for their customer.
“That’s about giving brokers back genuine power and control over their own journey, with the tech connected behind the scenes so the process feels as seamless as possible.”
