Former Provident Financial boss joins Leeds’ board

Leeds Building Society has appointed Robin Ashton as a non-executive director.

Ashton is currently the non-executive chairman of the parent company of Link Loans.

He qualified as a chartered accountant with Coopers & Lybrand in Leeds and has spent his career in retail financial services both in the UK and internationally. His previous executive roles included treasurer, finance director and chief executive at Provident Financial plc.

He joins the board, which now consists of four executive directors and nine non-executive directors under the chairman of Robin Smith.

Ashton said: “I have worked in retail financial services for more than 25 years and I am delighted to be joining the Board of Leeds Building Society. I began my career in Leeds and have spent much of my life living and working in Yorkshire.
