Check.co.uk launches free dual-bureau platform for mortgage applicants

Check.co.uk has launched a free financial wellbeing platform intended to help consumers prepare for mortgage and finance applications.

The FCA-regulated service provides lifetime access to credit information from Equifax and TransUnion, together with credit monitoring, Open Banking insights, personalised financial education and tools.

Check.co.uk said presenting information from two credit reference agencies offered users a broader view of their finances than a single headline score and could help them identify issues affecting their eligibility for credit.

Users may book a free onboarding call with the Check.co.uk team to discuss their credit information and practical measures that could improve their position. They then receive a personalised action plan.

The platform could also allow mortgage brokers and other advisers to identify potential problems with a client’s credit data, affordability or wider financial health before an application is submitted. Check.co.uk said resolving such issues early could improve confidence and reduce avoidable declines.

Matt Meecham, director at Check.co.uk, said: “We believe the industry is moving beyond simply showing consumers a credit score. The future is about helping people understand their overall financial wellbeing.”

“By combining dual-bureau credit information, Open Banking insights, personalised education and practical tools such as My Car and Vehicle Re-Finance, we’re giving consumers a much more complete picture of their finances.

“That helps people make better decisions, improve their eligibility for credit and approach major financial milestones, such as buying a home or refinancing a vehicle, with greater confidence.”
