Catalyst reinforces underwriting operations with key promotions

Published on

Catalyst Property Finance has strengthened its underwriting function through a strategic restructure and a trio of internal promotions designed to support the lender’s continued expansion.

The move introduces a new risk-management position and elevates two experienced team members to managerial and senior roles.

Martyn Balsom takes on the newly created post of risk and audit analyst after more than six years with Catalyst.

He will act as the central contact for all risk-related queries from the new business and underwriting teams, reviewing live cases to ensure that all activity remains consistent with the lender’s policies and controls.

SMOOTH RUNNING

Meanwhile, Aaron Deo has been promoted to underwriting manager, assuming responsibility for the day-to-day management of the department and the smooth running of its application pipeline. Having spent seven years as an underwriter at Catalyst, he will also oversee process-related queries, including those involving valuers and documentation.

Dan Burden moves up to senior underwriter after more than four years with the firm. He is recognised for his commitment to efficient processing and his readiness to support colleagues across the wider Catalyst business.

FUTURE GROWTH

Matt Gillon, underwriting director at Catalyst, said: “We are building on solid foundations, and this new structure is designed to support the department’s future growth. Martyn, Dan, and Aaron have consistently demonstrated dedication and excellence.

“Their promotions and new responsibilities are integral to realising the fantastic opportunities ahead for both our current and future staff.”

Commenting on his new role, Balsom said: “I’ve been part of the Catalyst team for many years and have seen it change and grow into what it is today.

“I still enjoy working here and am looking forward to this new opportunity, which will allow me to pass down my years of experience to a new generation of lending professionals.”

NEW OPPORTUNITIES

Deo added: “I’m really pleased to be starting my new position as underwriting manager. We have a great team with lots of potential, and I have no doubt that we can accomplish amazing things over the next few years while continuing to strengthen Catalyst’s brand in the bridging space.”

Burden said: “I can’t believe it’s been over four and a half years since I joined Catalyst. The time has gone fast, and I have gained some valuable experience in the bridging world.

“I’m looking forward to the new opportunities and responsibilities of my new role as we expand our brilliant team. It’s an exciting time for Catalyst.”
