Broadstone appoints senior banking pair as advisory demand rises

Published on

Broadstone Lending Advisory Services has appointed two senior business development managers as lenders and investors seek greater assurance over governance, operations and portfolio quality.

Leo Brooks and Megan Ueltschy Scheps join the consultancy with more than four decades of combined experience in commercial banking, credit, structured finance, governance and relationship management.

The appointments follow increased scrutiny across the lending market, which Broadstone said had prompted banks, specialist lenders, private credit providers and institutional investors to place more emphasis on operational resilience and governance.

Brooks (pictured, right) has more than 25 years’ experience in banking, credit risk, portfolio management and regulatory remediation.

He has held senior positions at HSBC, AIB, Clydesdale Bank and FSE Group, working across commercial lending, distressed assets, governance and Financial Conduct Authority remediation programmes.

Ueltschy Scheps (pictured, left) previously held managing director-level positions in corporate banking in the United States before moving to the UK.

Her experience includes leading relationship management, structured finance and commercial banking teams, as well as managing corporate relationships, portfolio growth and strategic partnerships.

John Barbour, senior director at Broadstone Lending Advisory Services, said: “The lending market has evolved considerably over the past few years. Access to capital remains important but confidence has become equally valuable.

“Investors, funders and lenders want independent assurance that businesses are well governed, operationally resilient and capable of managing increasingly sophisticated lending environments.

“We have seen significant growth in demand for advisory services that strengthen confidence across the market, whether through due diligence, governance reviews, portfolio assurance or operational transformation.

“Leo and Megan bring outstanding banking experience from two different markets but share the same consultative approach that has become central to our business.

“Their combined expertise further strengthens our ability to support clients as they navigate an increasingly demanding commercial and regulatory landscape.”

Brooks said: “Broadstone Lending Advisory Services has established an excellent reputation for helping organisations improve confidence rather than simply identify problems, and that approach really appealed to me.

“I am looking forward to working with lenders, investors and funding partners at a time when independent advice has never been more valuable.”

Ueltschy Scheps added: “The financial services market continues to place greater value on experience, judgement and trusted relationships.

“Broadstone Lending Advisory Services combines deep technical expertise with a genuinely collaborative approach that enables clients to solve complex challenges while strengthening long term confidence.

“It is an exciting time to join the business and contribute to its continued growth.”

Broadstone Lending Advisory Services advises banks, specialist lenders, private credit providers, institutional investors and other financial institutions on lending strategy, governance, due diligence, operational resilience and portfolio assurance.
