Afin Bank promotes Anum Mahmood to national sales director

Afin Bank has promoted Anum Mahmood to national sales director as the specialist lender continues to expand its intermediary distribution and prepares to launch its regulated bridging proposition.

Mahmood (pictured) joined Afin Bank as national key account manager and has played a central role in securing new broker partnerships, including with L&C Mortgages and Mortgage Intelligence.

The promotion comes as the lender continues its growth plans, with further recruitment of business development managers and the forthcoming launch of a regulated bridging proposition.

Afin Bank focuses on borrowers who may not meet the criteria of mainstream lenders, including self-employed applicants, qualified professionals, contractors, high-net-worth individuals and foreign nationals living and working in the UK on work visas.

Mahmood said: “It is clear that a lender like Afin Bank is needed now more than ever and the reaction we get from our broker partners is that they finally have an option for their clients that do not fit the rigid tick box approach to affordability and income that bigger lenders use.

“I am delighted to become national sales director so I can continue to tell the Afin story and work with even more advisers and BDM colleagues who are passionate about supporting borrowers, helping more people get the mortgage they want and deserve.”

Mahmood has almost 15 years’ experience in the mortgage sector, having previously held roles at TML (The Mortgage Lender), now part of Shawbrook Bank, Metro Bank, The New Homes Group and Alexander Hall.

Jason Oakley, chief executive of Afin Bank, said: “Anum really hit the ground running when she joined Afin Bank, and her dedication and commitment to our vision has shown through in her hard work and the relationships she has built with brokers and networks.

“Promoting her to national sales director is recognition of her achievements so far, but it also shows how much Afin has grown since our launch last year. Anum, and John Smith, who is now our Head of Bridging, will be key in driving continued growth and supporting the underserved.”
