The Ecology adopts OMS and Monument Technology systems

Published on

Ecology Building Society has implemented a new mortgage origination platform through a partnership with Monument Technology and One Mortgage System (OMS) as it looks to expand lending and improve service for brokers.

The platform combines Monument Technology’s Banking Platform as a Service (BPaaS) with the OMS Originations system, providing Ecology with an end-to-end mortgage journey including a broker portal, decision engine and full underwriting functionality.

The system went live in October and is intended to streamline mortgage processing, improve operational efficiency and enhance the experience for brokers and customers.

ENVIRONMENTALLY FOCUSED FINANCE

The move forms part of Ecology Building Society’s wider strategy to increase its mortgage lending while continuing its focus on ethical and environmentally focused finance.

Founded in 1981, the society specialises in lending for projects designed to deliver environmental and social benefits, including energy-efficient homes, eco-renovations, conversions and community-led housing.

In 2024, Ecology Building Society lent £54m across 201 properties and projects, covering affordable housing, sustainable businesses, self-build homes, energy-efficient retrofits and woodland purchases focused on conservation.

Monument Technology’s BPaaS platform provides banks and building societies with a modular, cloud-based system covering savings, lending and payments. The service includes mortgage origination capabilities alongside mobile applications and web portals, with the aim of helping institutions modernise their technology infrastructure.

The OMS Originations platform, launched in April 2024, is designed to streamline the mortgage application journey across both intermediary and direct channels. It also provides lenders with a customisable dashboard intended to support different lending workflows.

Neal Jannels, managing director of OMS, said: “Ecology Building Society has always taken a distinctive approach to lending, grounded in values that support environmentally responsible finance.

“We’re proud to provide an originations platform that helps scale those values into a modern, digital mortgage journey – delivering the flexibility, efficiency, and transparency needed to meet borrower needs today while supporting sustainable growth for the future.

“Working alongside Monument Technology, this has been a fantastic project, and I applaud all three teams for getting this build implemented and launched in such a quick timescale.”

“The launch of this new partnership is a key milestone in our exciting digital transformation, part of the evolution of Ecology as we ensure the Society is fit for the future and able to better serve intermediaries and our current and future Members.”
