Quantum Mortgages has exceeded £1bn in mortgage lending little more than four years after completing its first loan.
The specialist buy-to-let lender, which completed its first loan in July 2022, said it had reached the milestone after expanding across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Its growth has come during a period marked by high inflation, rising interest rates, volatility in funding markets, geopolitical uncertainty and greater regulatory pressure on landlords.
The company said it had supported thousands of professional landlords and property investors since its launch.
Jason Neale (pictured), chief executive officer of Quantum Mortgages, said: “Passing £1 billion of lending is a major milestone for Quantum. When we launched in 2022, we couldn’t have anticipated the scale of the economic and political challenges that would follow.
“To achieve this level of growth in such a difficult environment is something we’re incredibly proud of.
“This milestone reflects the hard work of our team, the support of our funding partners and, most importantly, the trust that brokers and their clients have placed in us.
“We’ve always believed there was room in the market for a lender that combines common-sense underwriting with a genuine understanding of professional landlords, and it’s rewarding to see that approach resonate so strongly.”
Quantum said its growth had been supported by specialist underwriting intended to reflect the commercial circumstances of property investors and help landlords increase their borrowing capacity and portfolio profitability.
Sy Nathan, head of bridging and structured finance at Dynamo, said: “Quantum entered the market with a refreshing approach. They challenged a lot of the traditional thinking in buy-to-let lending and introduced underwriting that better reflected how professional landlords actually operate.
“Their common-sense underwriting and willingness to consider real-world scenarios has helped landlords structure their borrowing more efficiently and maximise the profitability of their portfolios.
“In a remarkably short period of time, they’ve established themselves as one of the most important and innovative lenders in the specialist buy-to-let market.”
The lender has also developed a long-term funding platform through its Bletchley Park Funding securitisation programme. It has completed three asset-backed securitisation transactions backed by institutional investors.
Neale added: “Our success is about much more than lending volume. We’ve worked hard to build a scalable and sustainable platform, and the completion of three Bletchley Park Funding securitisations is an important part of that journey.
“The continued backing from investors and funding partners reflects confidence in our underwriting, portfolio quality and long-term strategy. It gives us a strong foundation as we continue to grow and invest in the business.”
Quantum said its next phase of growth would focus on supporting landlords, improving service for brokers and developing its specialist buy-to-let proposition.
