Protection Distributors Group adds two members and unveils ambassador

The Protection Distributors Group has added CoverMyBubble and Omny Benefits to its membership and appointed LegaCare founder Meg Kirby MBE as an ambassador.

The group said the three appointments reflect its continued focus on consumer outcomes and on placing customer issues at the centre of its work across the protection market.

CoverMyBubble, founded in 2018, joins as a new member. The broker advises on personal protection needs and focuses on helping customers protect their family, home and possessions.

Emma Astley, founder and adviser of CoverMyBubble, said: “I am really proud to be joining the PDG and working with such an amazing group of people.

“I’m looking forward to being part of the conversations around the important changes within our industry and continuing to champion the work advisers do every day to support and look after families and individuals.”

Omny Benefits has also joined the group. Formerly known as Corinthian Benefits Consulting, the business is part of Omny Group and provides employee benefits for employers and individuals, spanning pensions, protection, health and wellbeing.

Paul Andrews, director of Omny Benefits, said: “We’re delighted to be joining the Protection Distribution Group. As part of Omny Group, protection is an important part of how we support businesses and individuals with their financial security.

“Being part of PDG gives us a great opportunity to collaborate with other specialists, share insight and continue raising awareness of the important role protection plays.”

AMBASSADOR APPOINTMENT

Alongside the new members, the PDG has named Meg Kirby MBE as an ambassador, joining Johnny Timpson in the role.

Kirby founded LegaCare, a charity which has supported more than 5,000 terminally ill people in the north east of England since 2010. The organisation provides free legal advice and support to critically ill people and their families.

Kirby said: “I am absolutely delighted to have been asked to become an ambassador for the Protection Distributors Group. The work PDG is doing to build greater trust within the insurance industry is incredibly important, and its vision of an industry driven by empathy, honesty and transparency strongly reflects the values that I believe should sit at the heart of protection advice.

“Through my work at LegaCare, I have a unique insight into the real impact that protection has on individuals and families, particularly when it comes to navigating claims and ensuring people receive the support they need when it matters most.

“As an Ambassador, I hope to contribute by sharing the practical knowledge and insights gained from working with the seriously ill and going forward, more closely with advisers.

“I am particularly passionate about initiatives that increase access to protection for those who may otherwise struggle to obtain it.”
