Mortgage adviser raises £800 for charity

A Direct Mortgages assistant at Leeds Building Society’s Silverlink office has taken part in a 10k run in aid of a genetic condition research and support charity.

Jacob Mathieson completed the British 10k run in 48 minutes, and raised £800 for Niemann Pick Disease – including £300 in matched funding from Leeds Building Society.

Mathieson (pictured, second left) joined 22,000 fellow runners and finished 497th out of all men taking part and 1,779th overall in the event held around central London and Westminster.

He said: “My little sister Lucy was diagnosed with Neimann-Pick type C when she was only very young and suffered from it through her early childhood. It’s a degenerative neurological condition which restricted her in a lot of ways. Sadly she passed away in 2007.

“I’m always looking to try and raise money for the charity due to their immense support through her suffering when dealing with the disease. The charity continues to help out the families, children and young adults who are affected by types A, B and C of the disease.

“I am therefore delighted to have raised £800 in total, and would like to thank everyone who has sponsored me and Leeds Building Society for providing matched funding.”
