MBE North to focus on rates, specialist lending and AI

Mortgage Business Expo has unveiled the seminar programme for MBE North 2026, with sessions covering interest rates, specialist lending, AI and broker business growth.

MBE North 2026 will take place on 9 July at Manchester Central Convention Complex, bringing together brokers, lenders and industry stakeholders for a day of networking, panel discussions and product insight.

The event will open with a keynote address from Ken Clark, deputy agent for the North West at the Bank of England, who will provide a macroeconomic outlook on the UK housing and mortgage markets.

The main stage agenda will include sessions on remortgaging, product transfers and borrowers with adverse credit in a rising interest-rate environment, with speakers from Hinckley & Rugby Building Society, Atom bank, Accord Mortgages and Nationwide Building Society.

Buy-to-let and specialist lending will also feature prominently, with representatives from Keystone Property Finance, Hampshire Trust Bank, Fleet Mortgages and Nomo Bank discussing opportunities and challenges facing landlords and brokers.

A separate bridging finance panel will include Michael Street, founding partner at Word On The Street; Ian Harrison, operations director at Affirmative Finance; and Maeve Ward, intermediary sales director, personal finance at Together.

The technology programme will include sessions from Grow with Google covering digital growth, social media and AI. A later session on practical AI will feature speakers from Nivo, Curvestone AI, Rosemount Financial Solutions and JammJar.

KEY EVENT

Mike Mikunda, event director for MBE, said: “MBE North has become one of the key events in the intermediary calendar because it continues to reflect the conversations taking place across the industry in real time.

“Each year we focus on building a programme that brings together market insight, practical discussion and the topics brokers are dealing with every day.

“This year’s line-up does exactly that. Alongside a keynote from the Bank of England and hands-on sessions from Google Digital Garage, we are also pleased to launch The Broker Awards: North West, giving us an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the people helping move the market forward.

“We are looking forward to welcoming brokers, lenders and industry professionals back to Manchester in July for what promises to be another busy and valuable event.”

Alex Hammond, co-founder of Square 1 Media, added: “The packed agenda at MBE North gives brokers a great opportunity to hear the latest insights directly from industry experts.

“With a mix of economic context, specialist finance, technology and broker-focused discussion, we’ve created a speaker programme that will give advisers clear ideas they can take back into their businesses.”
