Leek Building Society secures double win at British Bank Awards

Leek Building Society has secured a double success at the 2026 British Bank Awards after being named both Best Building Society and Best Specialist Mortgage Provider.

The Staffordshire-based mutual retained the specialist mortgage title for the third consecutive year, reinforcing its growing reputation within the intermediary market.

The British Bank Awards are based on customer votes and reviews and recognise service standards across the UK banking and financial services sector.

Leek said the latest awards reflect its continued focus on member service, specialist lending expertise and broker relationships.

COMPLEX LENDING

The mutual has continued expanding its presence within specialist mortgage sectors including shared ownership, new build and buy-to-let lending, areas where brokers increasingly require more flexible underwriting and manual assessment.

Winning the Best Specialist Mortgage Provider category for a third consecutive year is likely to further strengthen the Society’s profile among intermediaries operating in more complex lending markets.

Founded more than 160 years ago, Leek Building Society said it remains focused on combining competitive savings products and specialist mortgage lending with a personalised service approach.

Andy Deeks, CEO at Leek Building Society, said: “Winning these awards is a proud moment for everyone at Leek Building Society.

“To be recognised nationally as the Best Building Society, while also retaining the title of Best Specialist Mortgage Provider for a third consecutive year, is a fantastic achievement, and testament to the outstanding work that my colleagues show day in, day out to deliver our purpose to be a force for good for savers and borrowers.”

The Society said the awards would help support its ongoing focus on delivering positive outcomes for members, brokers and local communities.
