Knowledge Bank technology underpins top three broker criteria platforms

Published on

Knowledge Bank’s technology powers all three of the highest-rated criteria sourcing services in the H1 2026 Mortgage Lender Benchmark Study.

Air Sourcing led the category with a Broker Experience Index score of 74.5, followed by Iress with 72.2 and Knowledge Bank’s own platform with 72.1.

The criteria services offered through Air Sourcing and Iress are powered by Knowledge Bank’s API, placing the company’s data and technology behind every provider in the top three.

The result points to Knowledge Bank’s reach beyond its broker-facing platform. Advisers can access its criteria directly or through integrated sourcing systems to examine lender policies and assess the suitability of cases.

The study found that 69.9% of brokers use an external provider for criteria sourcing, making it one of the most widely outsourced elements of the broker technology stack. The category recorded an overall Broker Experience Index score of 70.4 and a net promoter score of +21.3.

Knowledge Bank said the findings reflected the importance brokers place on accurate, relevant and searchable criteria, particularly when complex client circumstances mean that details within a lender’s policy can determine whether a case proceeds.

The company’s criteria are also available through One Mortgage System, which led the study’s CRM rankings with a Broker Experience Index score of 67.0.

This gives brokers access to Knowledge Bank’s data through leading product sourcing platforms, the highest-rated CRM system and the company’s own service.

Knowledge Bank also powers criteria information on lenders’ websites and provides standalone criteria websites through which lenders can present their policies directly to brokers.

Nicola Firth, chief executive of Knowledge Bank, said: “We are incredibly proud of our own platform’s performance, particularly its strong score for value for money.

“We are equally proud to provide the technology and data that allow partners such as Air Sourcing and Iress to deliver criteria through their own excellent broker experiences to propel them into the first a second spots in this survey.

“The fact that Knowledge Bank criteria is also available through One Mortgage System, the highest-rated CRM provider in the study, further demonstrates our reach across the mortgage technology market..

“Brokers may interact with our criteria through different platforms, but the common thread is the depth, accuracy and relevance of the information underneath them and we are proud to be the most trusted criteria sourcing system in the UK. Criteria is rarely as simple as a yes or no answer.

“Brokers need enough detail to understand whether a lender will consider the specific circumstances of their client and property.

“This result demonstrates the important role Knowledge Bank plays in helping the UK mortgage market operate more effectively, wherever brokers choose to search.”

Knowledge Bank works with lenders to review and maintain their criteria so that the information provided to brokers reflects current policies and market developments. Its API allows technology providers and lenders to incorporate the data into their own systems and online services.

The findings also suggest that brokers’ experience of mortgage technology depends on the quality and depth of its underlying information and infrastructure, as well as the design of the system.

As mortgage cases have become more complex, criteria sourcing has developed from a reference service into a central part of research, recommendations and case placement.
