Just Mortgages makes key new build and shared ownership hire

Just Mortgages has appointed Alan Finney as divisional sales director for its specialist new build and shared ownership division.

Finney (pictured) brings more than three decades of experience in financial services, having spent 20 years at Coventry Building Society. He joined the mutual in 2003 as an adviser and went on to join the mortgage leadership team in 2009, later becoming head of intermediaries during a period of major growth and change for the society.

In 2012, he was appointed head of direct mortgages, managing a team of more than 250 advisers and coordinators across branches and the contact centre, where he led Coventry’s move from a non-advised to a fully advised model.

He later took on the newly created position of head of mortgage transformation, overseeing a four-year programme to implement new servicing and origination platforms and enhance the lender’s mortgage proposition.

At Just Mortgages, Finney will be responsible for managing and expanding the broker’s team of more than 30 specialist advisers, while strengthening relationships with lenders, developers and housing associations.

“After a successful two decades with Coventry Building Society, I’m thrilled to be taking on a new challenge with Just Mortgages,” said Finney.

“In my initial conversations with the team, it quickly became clear that this was an exciting opportunity and a good next move in my career to explore a new area of the market and work with a really talented team.

“You cannot put a price on the expertise this specialist team of advisers can offer – it’s a real USP of Just Mortgages and something I’m keen to help develop as we increase our presence further.

“My heart lies in customer operations and sales and I’m really pleased to be returning back to that and ultimately, helping people get on the housing ladder.

“My first impressions of Just Mortgages have been really favourable – the team is really professional, market leading and purpose driven with clear ambitions to grow. They have been very welcoming and I look forward to getting stuck in.”

John Doughty

John Doughty, chapter managing director at Just Mortgages, said Finney’s arrival comes at an important time for the division: “With his wealth of knowledge and expertise, there’s no doubt that Alan is a tremendous addition to the team and someone who will play a critical role as we continue to grow.

“He will be a fantastic asset to our growing team of specialist advisers and someone who is more than capable of pushing forward our deep-rooted relationships with key partners across the new build and shared ownership arena.

“As one of the country’s largest specialist new build teams, we already have a significant footprint across the UK.

“Combined with our longstanding partnerships with lenders, introducers, developers and housing associations, expanding our team and adding expertise is an important step in our ambition to support first-time buyers, facilitate new build transactions and deliver quality advice as a real leader in this exciting segment of the market.”
