Just Mortgages appoints area director for Midlands and South West

Just Mortgages has strengthened its self-employed management team with the appointment of Alex Clifford as area director for the Midlands and South West.

Clifford (pictured) brings more than 18 years of experience in financial services and residential property sales, having worked across both estate agency and mortgage broking.

In his new role he will mentor self-employed brokers across the region, supporting their day-to-day operations while helping them to shape business plans and pursue growth opportunities.

He joins from Countrywide, where he spent three years as mortgage services sales manager. His career began in an independent estate agency before he moved to Connells as branch manager. It was during this time that he developed an interest in the mortgage sector through working with in-house advisers.

Clifford went on to train as an adviser with Sequence, rising to mortgage service manager, before moving into self-employment and subsequently to Countrywide.

“The supportive community here is second to none, offering brokers the rare chance to be self-employed while still fully backed”

Just Mortgages’ self-employed division now supports close to 500 advisers across the country. Clifford said: “Joining a fast-growing, ambitious company like Just Mortgages is incredibly exciting, as its culture and mindset perfectly align with my own. The supportive community here is second to none, offering brokers the rare chance to be self-employed while still fully backed.

“I’m eager to contribute my experience to strengthen this culture and help brokers unlock growth opportunities.

“My goal is to use my skills to build on the outstanding work already being done, supporting ambitious brokers to accelerate their success.

“Just Mortgages provides the environment for advisers to step out of traditional corporate constraints and create thriving businesses, and I am proud to be a part of that journey.”

Ben Allkins, head of mortgages and protection at Just Mortgages, said: “At Just Mortgages, we’re committed to giving self-employed brokers the best possible platform to succeed, and bringing Alex on board is a big step in strengthening that support.

“His career across both estate agency and mortgage broking means he truly understands the intricacies of life as an adviser, and the kind of guidance that makes a difference.

“Alex’s blend of experience and mentorship will be invaluable for our brokers. His appointment reinforces our culture of community and collaboration, ensuring advisers have not just the tools, but the backing and encouragement to build successful sustainable businesses.”
