Gordon Strachan backs Lloyds TSB’s soccer involvement

Former Scotland and schoolboys international Gordon Strachan has given his backing to a new two year partnership between Lloyds TSB Scotland and the Scottish Schools’ Football Association.

Strachan, who started his playing career as a schoolboy with Silverknowes Primary in Edinburgh and went on to score for Scotland at the World Cup Finals in Mexico ’86, will provide support in his role as Lloyds TSB Scotland Schools’ Football Ambassador.

The partnership sees Lloyds TSB Scotland provide comprehensive support of the inter-schools’ football programme in Scotland – a key stage in the development of Scotland’s young football talent – as well as the U15 Girls and U18 Boys International Squads. Over 25,000 school children will participate in a Lloyds TSB Scotland supported programme in 2011.

Strachan said: “I have very fond memories of playing inter-schools’ competitions and for Scotland as part of the U15’s national squad. Schools’ football is a vital component to the continued development of young players and the Schools’ Football Association should be applauded for the fantastic work that they do year in
