Beverley Building Society has appointed Jonathan Pattinson as a non-executive director as the mutual prepares to double its mortgage lending over the next two years.
Pattinson (main picture) has joined the Board following the completion of Oliver Laird’s four-year tenure and will chair the Society’s audit and compliance committee as well as becoming a member of its risk committee.
The appointment comes as Beverley marks its 160th anniversary and pursues plans to increase mortgage lending, attract more savers and continue investing in technology and its workforce.
The Society said the investment was designed to support sustainable growth while maintaining its mutual status and customer-focused approach.
THREE DECADES OF EXPERIENCE
Pattinson brings almost 30 years’ experience across internal audit, compliance and risk management and is a chartered accountant.
His career has included senior roles at a global accounting firm, a major UK mortgage lender and a number of other organisations.
He is currently CEO of Computershare Investor Services PLC, providing him with experience of the ongoing digitisation and transformation of financial services.
Pattinson said: “I’m still actively working, which means I have current experience of the dynamic changes taking place across the financial services industry, particularly the continued drive towards digitisation.
“I’m delighted to join Beverley Building Society. It is an organisation with a great team, a strong sense of purpose and a bright future as a proud mutual.
“Given my background and recent experience in Investor Services, I look forward to bringing a fresh perspective to the Board and supporting the Society as it continues to grow and evolve.”
BIG ADDITION

Karen Wint, chair of Beverley Building Society, said: “Jonathan’s appointment is a significant addition to the Board’s capabilities.
“His extensive experience across audit, compliance, risk and governance will provide valuable support and challenge as we continue to strengthen the Society and deliver long-term value for our members.”

Janet Bedford, CEO of Beverley Building Society, added: “Jonathan’s appointment strengthens the Board at an important time for the Society and having the right blend of skills and experience on our Board is essential.
“His deep knowledge of risk and regulatory matters, coupled with his experience of digital transformation and operational excellence, will be invaluable as we pursue our ambitious plans.”
