Wiltshire Friendly joins Right Protection panel

The Right Mortgage & Protection Network has announced the addition of Wiltshire Friendly to its specialist group protection proposition.

The Right Mortgage & Protection Appointed Representative (AR) firms can now access Wiltshire Friendly’s range of income protection products, with specific options available for football, rugby and corporate clients.

Wiltshire Friendly offers sports income protection policies for professional and semi-professional footballers, and professional rugby players.

These individual plans are designed to be used when the player’s club’s own sick pay ends, by setting the deferred period accordingly. The plans pay for a limited benefit period and both offer specific terms relative to the respective sports.

Wiltshire Friendly also offer Group Income Protection policies with short deferred periods, combined with short benefit terms. These plans can start to pay benefit from as soon as four weeks, which can help the firm offset their sick pay risk and associated cost.

Wiltshire Friendly is a mutual owned by its members and run for its benefit. It paid 95.04% of all claims in 2022, with The Right Mortgage advisers being able to speak to a designated member of staff who looks after new business, plan administration, claims or product technical queries.

Amanda Wilson (pictured), director at the Right Mortgage & Protection Network, said: “We’re very excited to announce that Wiltshire Friendly have joined our group protection panel. If you have contact with sports clubs, did you know they look for ways to entice players to their clubs but can only pay them so much?

“A value the club will add is a policy just like those available from Wiltshire Friendly. This gives you access to the whole team and club members. Get in touch with Wiltshire Friendly and find out how this plan may help you increase your client bank.”

Jon Gratland, chief executive at Wiltshire Friendly, said: “I am delighted that The Right Mortgage has spotted the opportunity, and given Wiltshire Friendly the chance to offer more specialist income protection products to its advisers and individual and commercial clients.

“Our aim is to develop income protection products not readily available in the marketplace and to make protection solutions more available to a wider audience who need this valuable cover. While we have the products, we need the support of forward-thinking distributors to help us get the message out there and The Right Mortgage has been a pleasure to work with in setting up this new relationship.”
