UnderwriteMe announces leadership reshuffle to drive expansion

UnderwriteMe has announced a series of senior leadership changes as the life insurance technology provider seeks to strengthen its presence in key markets.

Tom Frenzel (main picture) has been named manager, business development for the UK and Ireland, where he will lead client engagement, develop new partnerships and support the company’s commercial expansion across both markets. Frenzel’s appointment marks a renewed emphasis on regional growth as UnderwriteMe continues to scale its underwriting technology and digital services.

Brett Laker

In a related move, Brett Laker has stepped down from his position as head of North America at UnderwriteMe to take up a new role as vice president, client solutions at Pacific Life Re. He will report to Sarah Cheng, who oversees the protection business in North America and Europe.

Scott Hunt

With Laker’s transition to the reinsurer, Scott Hunt has been appointed director, business development, North America. UnderwriteMe said Hunt’s experience in the regional market will be central to accelerating the company’s efforts in driving digital adoption among life insurers in the United States and Canada.

Both Frenzel and Hunt will report to Paul Hughes, chief revenue and customer officer.

“These leadership changes mark an exciting chapter in UnderwriteMe’s journey,” said Andrew Doran, chief executive of UnderwriteMe. “Brett’s move to Pacific Life Re reinforces our integrated vision for client success. At the same time, we’re excited to welcome Scott and Tom into their new roles, where their expertise will help us continue to lead the market in digital underwriting and customer-centric technology.”

Commenting on his appointment, Frenzel said: “It’s a fantastic opportunity to work with a team that is truly redefining the life insurance journey through smart technology, automation, and data-driven decisioning. I’m looking forward to collaborating with insurers to unlock growth, simplify underwriting, and deliver better customer outcomes. I’m thrilled to get started.”
