Two new mortgage hires at the Ipswich

The Ipswich Building Society has appointed Jodie Claxton to the role of Mortgage Manager and Matthew Thomas to underwriting manager.

As mortgage manager Claxton (pictured) will be responsible for post-completion. She joins from Capita Mortgage Services, where she served for two years most recently as operational delivery manager.

Her role involved working between the servicing teams, business analysts and developers to oversee user acceptance testing, change delivery, process management and training.

Thomas has over 28 years’ experience working in the financial services industry and specialises in operational credit management. Before joining Ipswich Building Society, Thomas worked at Virgin Money for 14 years in three different roles including strategic projects manager and chief operational underwriter.

Paul Winter, The Ipswich’s chief executive, said: “Jodie and Matthew bring a wealth of skills and experience which will enhance our mortgage team and ensure borrowers continue to receive a high standard of service.

“Too many credit-worthy borrowers with unusual circumstances find themselves overlooked by banks and building societies which conduct machine-only approval processes. However, Ipswich Building Society implements a manual underwriting process to ensure each application is assessed thoroughly and fairly.”
