The Leeds Building Society raised £500 in the British Heart Foundation’s (BHF) ‘Wear It Beat It’ day by colleagues in its head office and branches taking part in red-themed events.

Heart and circulatory disease is responsible for almost 160,000 deaths in the UK each year, an average of 440 people each day. There are currently seven million people in the UK living with heart and circulatory disease.

Trevor Garside, Leeds Building Society’s head of direct distribution, said: “We got involved because we think the charity does great work. We are proud to have raised £500 for the BHF, and to have helped continue to fund the vital research needed to fight heart disease.”

Sue Green, fundraising manager at the BHF, said: “A huge thanks to Leeds Building Society for their red-themed fundraising efforts. It has been fantastic to witness the UK rallying together and turning red in the fight against heart and circulatory disease.

“All money raised from ‘Wear it Beat it’ will help us truly make a massive difference to the millions of people living with these conditions.”
