Teachers Building Society has appointed Simon Potter as its new chief financial officer and board member.
Potter (main picture, inset) has been with the Society for almost 12 years, having joined as financial controller before being promoted to head of finance.
During that time he has developed a strong understanding of the organisation and the building society sector, playing a key role in supporting the Society’s financial management and strategy.
In his new role, which has received formal regulatory approval, Potter will focus on ensuring the Society’s financial performance continues to support its teacher-first approach, helping demonstrate through the numbers the value the organisation provides to its members. He succeeds Rajesh Patel who is leaving the Society.
TEACHER-FIRST FOCUS

Gavin Opperman, Teachers CEO, said: “Simon has been an integral part of our finance leadership team for many years and brings deep knowledge of the Society and the mutual sector.
“His appointment reflects both his experience and our commitment to developing talent within the organisation.”
Potter added: “I’m delighted to take on the role of chief financial officer. Having spent over a decade with the Society, I’m proud of the work we do to support teachers and education professionals.
“I’m particularly passionate about ensuring our teacher-first focus is reflected not only in what we say, but in the strength and sustainability of the Society’s financial performance.”
