A group of business development managers and their managers from Skipton Building Society are taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks to help teenagers fight cancer.

They will set out on Tuesday 8 July, aiming to complete the 26 mile trail in less than 12 hours. The challenge is to climb Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, a total height climb of 5,000 feet, which the team aims to complete in less than 12 hours.

One of the organisers, Lucy Stamford, said: “We have been preparing for weeks now and everyone realises that this is going to be a real challenge. But we are determined to complete the walk especially when we remember the amazing charity which we are supporting.

“Everyone has embraced it, however. We’ve bought our walking boots and we’re now in training! We really appreciate all the support we have been given so far and thank everyone for their donations.”

Around seven young people aged between 13 and 24 are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK. Teenage Cancer Trust is the only charity dedicated to providing the necessary expert treatment and support.

The group can be sponsored through their Virgin Money Giving page and gift aid will be claimed on the charity’s behalf where the donor is eligible for this.
