Ross Gandy honoured with Benson Hersch Memorial Award at BDLA conference

The Bridging & Development Lenders Association (BDLA) has recognised Ross Gandy for his contribution to the specialist finance sector.

Gandy (pictured, right), head of business development at Bluecroft Finance, has been named the winner of the 2025 Benson Hersch Memorial Award at the BDLA Annual Conference in London.

The award, presented at Glaziers Hall on 12 November, recognises individuals who show leadership, integrity, market insight and a strong commitment to professional development. It commemorates Benson Hersch, who led the BDLA between 2008 and 2019 and was widely regarded as a driving force for improved standards across the bridging and development market.

Gandy has been a key figure at Bluecroft, helping to develop the firm’s broker relationships and influencing the culture of a business that has seen rapid growth in recent years. His focus on people, combined with a performance-led approach, has made him a prominent voice in the sector, the BDLA said.

The memorial award was established in tribute to Hersch, the former chief executive of the ASTL, who died in 2022. He was known for his fairness, professionalism and willingness to support others across the sector, often away from the spotlight. The BDLA describes the accolade as a way of recognising those who reflect those qualities today.

Vic Jannels (pictured, left), chief executive of the BDLA, said: “Ross embodies the very qualities that the Benson Hersch Memorial Award was created to celebrate — integrity, leadership, and a genuine commitment to raising standards across our industry.

“His contribution to both Bluecroft and the wider specialist finance community reflects the spirit of collaboration and professionalism that Benson championed throughout his career.”

Gandy said: “It’s an honour to receive the Benson Hersch Memorial Award. Benson’s legacy means a great deal to our sector, and I’m incredibly grateful to be recognised in his name.

“This award reflects the culture and dedication of the entire team at Bluecroft — it’s a recognition we share together.”
