Positive Lending sponsoring GB triathlete

Published on

Packager Positive Lending is sponsoring Lee Godber, an athlete selected to represent the GB Age Group Triathlon team.

Godber, who was a client of Positive Lending in 2015, teamed up with Positive’s chief executive, Paul McGonigle in 2016 and they ran training programs in Snowdonia for potential climbers of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Following a triathlon in early 2017 Godber found that his completion time made him competitive enough to represent GB in the ETU, the European Triathlon Union Long Distance Triathlon European Championships.  The Positive team saw his request for sponsorship on social media and offered their support.

Godber said: “Being selected to represent Great Britain at this year’s ETU Triathlon was an immensely proud moment.  The event consists of a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike, followed by at 26.2 mile marathon – a race of 140.6 miles across a windy and wet Amsterdam! Training relentlessly for six months is a huge commitment and not to be taken lightly but this preparation is key for achieving your best on the day.

“I am extremely grateful for the support of Paul and Positive Lending.  It sounds corny, but I don’t think I could have done this without them – the training boost I received and the pride on the day just about made this possible.  So thank you so much again for your help, and I really look forward to 2018 and hopefully pulling that GB kit on a few more times yet to represent my country, myself, my family, and Positive Lending.”

McGonigle added: “When I first met Lee he was a customer of Positive Lending, during one of our telephone conversations the topic of challenges arose and we discovered a joint passion.  Lee’s focus is astounding and it was with awe that we followed his recent, intense six-month training program.  To say we were proud of Lee competing at the ETU triathlon is an understatement –and seeing the Positive logo emblazoned on Lee’s GB kit was fantastic.  The event day was incredibly tough for Lee with pouring rain, strong winds and near exhaustion. To push on through these physical challenges just goes to prove that Lee is a great athlete – a very Positive athlete!

“We are delighted that Lee has became so much more than a Positive Lending customer; he has become a true Positive ambassador and an inspiration to our team.”
