Council of Mortgage Lenders

Svenska Handelsbanken AB has become a member of the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML).

Founded in 1871, Handelsbanken is one of the leading banks in the Nordic region. It has more than 800 branches in 24 countries, and regards Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Great Britain and the Netherlands as its domestic markets.

The firm upholds a policy of decentralisation, with responsibility for all relations with customers – private and corporate – remaining at branch level.

It says that its focus is always on the needs of individual customers, and not the sale of specific products. Handelsbanken therefore does not run any central marketing campaigns, but relies on local marketing based on knowledge of the needs of customers.

The CML now has 126 members, a further eight members that are third party administrators and 86 associates.
